Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters (1985) ****

I'm not familiar with the real life Yukio Mishima or his legacy, but as a piece of filmmaking, Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters (1985) presents its subject as a fascinatingly obsessed and complex individual. Mishima is gorgeously shot by John Bailey, breathtakingly scored by Philip Glass, artfully designed with hyperstylized sets by Eiko Ishioka and theatrically directed with flair by Paul Schrader.
