Some of the jokes don't land, the characters are underdeveloped, the editing is a bit wonky at times, and the finale falls a little flat, but  Michael Ritchi e's  The Golden Child   (1986) is a fun Eddie Murphy  fantasy action adventure vehicle, the score is catchy, the stop motion animation and matte paintings are charming, and the (underused) Charles Dance is always a joy as a villain.   Michael Ritchie Feature Films Ranked

At 87 minutes, Michael Ritchi e's Prime Cut (1972) is an economic crime thriller with a ton of style, featuring strong performances from Lee Marvin , Gene Hackman , and Sissy Spacek (in her screen debut), plus a reliably great score by the legendary Lalo Schifrin . The film wastes none of the viewer's time delivering drama, humor, and action (including a memorable chase with a combine and a shootout in a field of sunflowers). Fletch (1985) is an amusing bit of fluff that has aged decently. It's often very funny—thanks of course to its star, Chevy Chase —and, unlike many '80s comedies, it contains very little "offensive" or “problematic” content when viewed through the "2020 lens". The film is episodic in nature, giving Chase the opportunity to riff on his many disguises, there's lot of great character actors in the supporting cast, and Harold Faltermeyer 's synth score is catchy as hell. All in all, Fletch  is a fun, inconsequential little movie.
