A different beast than its  predecessor  ( review ), trading the NYC grime for a vividly colorful rural setting,  Frank Henenlotter 's  Basket Case 2   (1990) is a really kooky sequel, filled to the brim with freaky, fleshy prosthetics. Though I prefer the original,  BC2  takes the series in a fun direction. The movie ups the budget, ups the comedy, the filmmaking is better, the acting is better, and it holds up well on repeat viewings. Lots of Jolt Cola product placement too. An even goofier sequel than the previous year's  Basket Case 2   (review), Frank Henenlotter 's  Basket Case 3: The Progeny  (1991) is the weakest movie of the series, but it's still a lot of fun. There's no shortage of zaniness (including a patently stupid but entertaining musical number on a bus).  BC3  is the most campy and over the top film of the franchise, it features the best and most well-executed gore gags, and the final battle is suitably ridiculous.
