Cape Fear (1991) ****
I don't think I ever quite realized the level of Hitchcock homage going on in this film. This has always been one of favorite Scorsese films and favorite films in general—it just never gets stale for me. Some really striking shots, fun/interesting dialogue, atmospheric/impressionistic matte paintings and one of the most uncomfortable scenes (supposedly ad-libbed) with an actress portraying a minor in a mainstream film that I can think of.
Scorsese homage to De Palma?
"Ooh, ooh, I got the all-over fidgets on that one."
"Well, pardon me all over the place!"
