George V. Higgins "The Friends Of Eddie Coyle" (1970) ****1/2

I recently saw the film for the first time. The Friends Of Eddie Coyle (1970), the book, is just as outstanding. The film is an incredibly accurate adaptation. Breezy and realistic crime stuff. It's easy to spot how influential this was to Elmore Leonard, one of my very favorite authors.
