He Knows You're Alone (1980) ***

A by-the-books slasher and a laughably obvious Halloween (1978) (review) knock-off (with bits of Psycho (1960) sprinkled in), but still very entertaining. He Knows You're Alone (1980) is a mostly bloodless affair with tame kills, but the characters are realistic and humorous, the filmmaking is competent, and I really enjoyed the East Coast autumnal setting. Tom Hanks' small role (his screen debut!) is a highlight as well.
