DB Mix Series 10 - Some Songs About Dreams And Sleep
Following the trajectory of 2019 into 2020, the previous DB Mix Series was created last August and here we are on the 16th day of February with a new one! Read on for DB Mix Series 10 – Some Songs About Dreams And Sleep.
For those unfamiliar with these music challenges—my cousin Bryan and I alternately choose a concept, we each choose the appropriate number of songs, make a playlist, share with each other, then I mix the playlists, design the album art, and share with you! The concept this time was chosen by me—each of us was to make a mix of songs about dreams and sleep (with the obvious nod to Talking Heads in the title of this series). The rules this time around were: 20 tracks, soundtracks songs were OK, score tracks were not OK, and lastly, we couldn't use Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams"—I still love that song but it gets enough play (Bryan cleverly used another FM tune). He was a bit more creative with his song choices, whereas I took a more a literal approach—every other song I chose has the word "dream" or "sleep" in it (or some variation of either).
To recap our main rule—we never tell each other which songs we are going to pick, so the others' mixes are a surprise. We happen to have a lot of the same artists/songs in our respective (and large) music libraries and we often share artists/songs, so sometimes we choose the same songs or artists for these mixes.
This time around neither of us chose any of the same songs (again)! And neither of us chose any of the same artists either! That's always fun, when each mix is completely unique. Plus Bryan chose a bunch of artists I wasn't familiar with and it's always great to be exposed to new music. Hopefully there are some new to Bryan choices in my mix as well (and new to you tracks in both our mixes). Please enjoy this round of mixes!
