Fudoh: The New Generation (1996) ***1/2

Fudoh: The New Generation (1996) was one of the first Takashi Miike films I saw, probably around 2001 or 2002. I didn't remember the film that well, but I really enjoyed the rewatch. It's a good blend of straightforward yakuza drama and Miike's more gonzo tendencies (dart gun vagina, need I say more?), and the score by Shinya Tsukamoto regular Chu Ishikawa is killer. It's surprising that this was the first Miike movie to make the jump to 4K UHD, but I hope more of his early ('90s – mid 2000s) work gets released on the format soon.
