Happy 14th Birthday, Blog!
Happy 14th birthday to my blog, The Danman Can! Each year on this date I post the number of films I've watched per year since I've been keeping track (20 years of doing so today!). Here they are:
2005 - 338 films
2006 - 368 films
2007 - 274 films
2008 - 269 films
2009 - 234 films
2010 - 189 films
2011 - 237 films
2012 - 254 films
2013 - 352 films
2014 - 350 films
2015 - 337 films
2016 - 270 films
2017 - 265 films
2018 - 207 films
2019 - 254 films
2020 - 284 films
2021 - 334 films
2022 - 401 films
2023 - 383 films
2024 - 406 films
In 2024 I broke 400 films, like I did in 2022 (I also watched the most films since I've been keeping track)! According to Letterboxd, I reviewed 63 more films and watched 16 more hours of film than in 2023. Note that the number of films I logged above (from my personal records) is different than the number of ‘Films Logged’ on Letterboxd (421). This is owing to the fact that I do not log check-ins for short films, certain documentaries, featurettes, concert films, etc. in my personal records (while I do log some of those on LB).
Walter Hill was my Most Watched Director in 2024. Films watched (or rewatched) last year directed by him included The Warriors (1979) (review), 48 Hrs. (1982) (review), Another 48 Hrs. (1990) (review), Red Heat (1988) (review), Last Man Standing (1996) (review), Southern Comfort (1981) (review), and The Long Riders (1980) (review).
Eddie Murphy was my Most Watched Actor in 2024. This is clearly owing to the fact that I watched all four Beverly Hills Cop films, both 48 Hrs. films, The Golden Child (1986), and rewatched Coming To America (1988) (review).
I hope that film lovers will use my blog as a database to search for ratings and reviews, and that they find it useful. Don't forget that I occasionally post album reviews and other topics as well. In addition to the search at the top of the blog, there are handy labels on the left-hand side to help you find stuff. I appreciate all the views. Take care and I hope 2025 treats you well!
