The Old Dark House (1932) ***1/2

James Whale's The Old Dark House (1932) is my least favorite of the director's pictures that I've seen (I've watched the film three times now) and I still find the story a bit lacking, but I recognize the influence of this Gothic horror comedy, and appreciate the actors and the dynamic cinematography.
