Evilspeak (1981) ***

I watched Evilspeak (1981) for the first time in 2014, when it was released on Blu-ray. Watching it a second time, in a theater with an audience, was even more enjoyable. This gender-swapped satanic panic Carrie (1976) (review) riff is clunky and goofy but also contains some great gore—which, in conjunction with its Lucifer-lovin' ways, landed it on Video Nasties list—and is a lot of fun. The bullying theme is laid on thicker than a triple-coat finish but it builds to a satisfying revenge-filled finale (Justice For Clint).
