The Monkey (2025) ***1/2 [🐒 UHD Double Feature Pt. 1]
Osgood Perkins' The Monkey (2025) captures the dark and satirical humor of Stephen King in a way that few other adaptations of his work do (1990's Misery (review) and 1993's Needful Things and The Dark Half (review) come to mind). It's far from perfect and it drags a little in the final act, but I liked it just as much on a rewatch. While I have yet to rewatch Longlegs (2024) (review), I thought the tone was better balanced here than in that film. Over the top, gory, and very fun.
