Urban Legend (1998) ***

As post Scream (1996) college slashers go, Urban Legend (1998) is one of the better ones. It features an attractive young cast (I still have a crush on Alicia Witt), a couple of horror genre heavyweights in small roles, as well as a big, tense score from frequent genre composer Christopher Young. It's a slick film and it's kinda formulaic, but it's always fun (I still laugh at the Bonnie Tyler and Paula Cole gags) and, largely because it has more in common with ‘80s rather than ‘90s slashers, it holds up more than 20 years after its release.
