Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) ****
Few films are as unabashedly breezy and fun as John Hughes' Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986). Sure, you can make a case for how its lead character is entitled, selfish, and manipulative. That's addressed a bit in the movie and there are some serious moments (in fact, it's not really a laugh out loud comedy and never has been, for this viewer anyway). But there's no denying Matthew Broderick's charm and how much we'd all like to have a day like the one portrayed in this picture.
