The Monkey (2025) ***1/2
My second favorite Osgood Perkins film so far. The Monkey (2025) captures the dark and satirical humor of Stephen King in a way that few other adaptations of his work do (1990's Misery (review) and 1993's Needful Things and The Dark Half (review) come to mind). It's far from perfect and it drags a little in the final act, but I thought the tone was better balanced here than in Perkins' previous film, Longlegs (2024) (review). Over the top, gory, and very fun.
