Phenomena - Creepers Version (1985) ***
I told myself that I'd eventually get around to watching the butchered Creepers cut of Phenomena (1985) (review) someday and tonight was the night. When New Line Cinema acquired Dario Argento's film for distribution, they chopped it down to 83 minutes and released it as Creepers. This truncated version is definitely pretty incoherent at times but I think I'm forgiving in my assessment of it because I've always found Phenomena to be a bit sloppy (though I've grown to really love it over the years), even in its International (110 mins) and Italian (116 mins) versions. I'm just glad that Creepers wasn't how I first experienced the film and I feel for the people whose only way to see it for many years was via this cut.
