Blue Steel (1990) ***1/2
A ridiculous premise and a thoroughly unbelievable chain of events, but this "female Dirty Harry" film is stylish and compelling. Obviously there are similarities to Michael Mann but Kathryn Bigelow’s Blue Steel (1990) also reminded me a lot of William Lustig's first two Maniac Cop films (my review of the second here) in look and feel. An over the top, violent, and fetishistic thriller, gorgeously shot, with plenty of slo-mo, and a pulsing score by Brad Fiedel.
