DB Mix Series 19 - Same But Different

It's the 16th day of the month! It's a new DB Mix Series! It's 28 songs (x2)! Please read on and enjoy DB Mix Series 19 - Same But Different!

For those unfamiliar with these music challenges—my cousin Bryan and I alternately choose a concept, we each choose the allotted number of songs (from our MP3 collections), make a playlist, share with each other, then I mix the playlists, design the album art, and share with everyone! You can check out the previous DB Mixes here.

The concept this time was chosen by Bryan—14 pairs of songs, where each pair is two different songs with the same title. The rules were set as follows:

- 28 songs
- Songs can be from any source (EPs, singles, soundtracks, compilations, etc.)
- No cover versions of the same song

To recap our main rule—we never tell each other which songs we are going to pick, so the other's mix is always a surprise. We happen to have a lot of the same artists/songs in our respective (and large) music libraries and we often share artists/songs, so sometimes we choose the same songs or artists for these mixes.

This time around there were no repeat songs or artists! It was interesting to see how the same-titled songs compared and contrasted. Bryan told me, after we shared our playlists with each other, that he purposely chose pairings that were drastically different genres/styles/pacing from each other. I didn't approach my mix this way, but that ended up happening most of the time regardless (a few of my pairings did match up quite well though). One of the more enjoyable aspects of this ongoing project for me is being exposed to new music—11 of the tracks that Bryan chose are ones I hadn't previously heard. Hopefully there are some new-to-you tracks in both of our mixes as well—please enjoy and share!
