Juror #2 (2024) ***

A good, solid old-fashioned court drama,  Clint Eastwood 's Juror #2   (2024) updates  Reginald Rose 's 1954 teleplay  Twelve Angry Men   ( 1957 film review , 1997 film review ) with a slight twist. Clint Eastwood Directed Films Ranked

Congo (1995) ***

A fun and campy sci-fi jungle adventure with an awesome cast, amusing dialogue, and brilliant practical effects by Stan Winston 's crew.

Nosferatu (2024) ***1/2

Undeniably Robert Eggers ' wheelhouse and filled with strong imagery and solid performances, Nosferatu (2024), while a very good and entertaining film, doesn't set itself apart enough story and atmosphere-wise from the many film adaptations of this tale, including  F.W. Murnau 's  Nosferatu  (1922) ( review ),  Tod Browning 's  Dracula  (1931) ( review ),  Werner Herzog 's  Nosferatu The Vampyre  (1979), and  Francis Ford Coppola 's  Dracula  (1992) ( review ). The Escapees (1981) ***1/2 [Rollin Double Feature Pt. 2]

Largely devoid of his trademark poetry and surreality (save for one magical ice skating scene),  Jean Rollin 's The Escapees (1981) maintains a fairy tale quality and this road movie odyssey doesn't lack for evocative imagery. I liked this one simply because it felt a bit different for Rollin and there is a blanket of tragedy (complete with downbeat ending) that suffuses the whole affair. Jean Rollin Feature Films Ranked
