2 Days In The Valley (1996) ***1/2
John Herzfeld's 2 Days In The Valley (1996) is an above average neo-noir crime comedy populated by compelling characters portrayed by an incredible cast. The film has been oft-labeled, unfairly, as a Pulp Fiction (1994) knock-off but it's much more reminiscent of Elmore Leonard (whom Tarantino was clearly influenced by as he made Jackie Brown the year following 2DITV) and serves as a precursor to Paul Thomas Anderson in some ways as well. This tale of hitmen, has-beens, and botched plans is hugely entertaining and rewatchable.
