Pumpkinhead (1988) *** ['88 Horror Double Feature Pt. 1]

Stan Winston's Pumpkinhead (1988) is a solid little low budget horror film. I've seen the film numerous times—I really like the look of it and it has a great setup. It also has cool f/x work (natch), even if the titular monster does resemble the xenomorph a bit too much. But the framing of many shots feels slapdash, the pacing has never grabbed me, it's a bit repetitive, most of the characters are underdeveloped, and it loses steam by the finale. It's a film that never quite comes together satisfactorily.
