The Killer (2023) ***
Starts out very promisingly but underwhelms by the end. David Fincher's The Killer (2023) is great at times and I like slow burn hitman movies, but this still feels like a Netflix movie. It also feels like both the director and composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross weren't really trying anything new (the score is very forgettable). Which is fine; comfort food is good too, and that's what this film is (very familiar and digestible). But I'd rather watch Le Samouraï (1967) [review], The Driver (1978) [review], The Limits Of Control (2009) [review], The American (2010), Only God Forgives (2013) [review], Point Blank (1967) [review], The Limey (1999) [review], or Haywire (2011) [review] (none of which contain any Smiths songs, thankfully).
