The Killer (2023) ***
Starts out very promisingly but underwhelms by the end. David Fincher's The Killer (2023) is great at times and I like slow burn hitman movies but this still feels like a Netflix movie. It also feels like both the director and composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross weren't really trying anything new (the score is very forgettable). Which is fine; comfort food is good too and that's what this film is (very familiar and digestible). But I'd rather watch Le Samouraï (1967) (review), The Driver (1978) (review), The Limits Of Control (2009) (review), The American (2010), Only God Forgives (2013) (review), Point Blank (1967) (review), The Limey (1999) (review), or Haywire (2011) (review) (none of which contain any Smiths songs, thankfully).
