Pursued (1947) ****

Raoul Walsh's Pursued (1947) is a tragic, melodramatic, at times gothic Western noir featuring beautiful cinematography by the masterful James Wong Howe, a grand score by the legendary Max Steiner, and excellent performances by a strong cast—including the expressive Teresa Wright, the fierce Judith Anderson, and the stoic and chiseled Robert Mitchum (who also starred in Crossfire (review) and the classic Out Of The Past the same year!).
