Innocent Blood (1992) ***
John Landis' Innocent Blood (1992) is a fun and funny vampire-meets-mob-movie mashup. Its unique premise is one of its strongest selling points and it's got some really interesting makeup effects. It also has an amazing cast (lots of Robert Loggia scenery chewing to go with all the neck chomping), featuring a genre fan who's who of cameos (including Dario Argento in one of his very few acting roles).
But, unfortunately, IB is a bit too long, a bit oddly paced, loses some steam in the second half, and, most egregious of all, Anthony LaPaglia is just not a strong enough lead (and has no chemistry with the ridiculously gorgeous and charming Anne Parillaud of La Femme Nikita (1990) (blogpost) fame). Still, the film is very entertaining and I think slightly underrated.
