Paper Moon (1973) ****1/2

A long, long overdue watch. An incredibly charming, deadpan road comedy about a suspected father-daughter duo (played by real-life father and daughter Ryan and Tatum O'Neal) of con artists, Peter Bogdanovich's Paper Moon (1973) is devoid of the saccharine and manipulative qualities you'd expect in a film of this sort. Paper Moon is consistently and wonderfully entertaining throughout, László Kovács' cinematography is simply gorgeous, and Tatum (deservedly) won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at age 10 (still the youngest to do so).

Recommended for fans of The Sting (1973), Harold And Maude (1971) (review), and Nebraska (2013) (review).
