Texasville - Director's Cut (1990) ***1/2 [Duane & Jacy Double Feature Pt. 2]

Texasville (1990) is an odd (almost Wim Wenders-like) sequel to the magnificent The Last Picture Show (1971) (review), the "midlife crisis" to its predecessor's "coming-of-age" drama. Often a bit too kooky, it nonetheless contains a certain poignancy and despite its long running time (I decided to watch the two-and-a-half-hour B&W director's cut, which I think was a wise choice), it remains engaging throughout.
