Happy 13th Birthday, Blog!

Happy 13th birthday to my blog, The Danman Can! Each year on this date I post the number of films I've watched per year since I've been keeping track (19 years of doing so today). Here they are:

2005 - 338 films
2006 - 368 films
2007 - 274 films
2008 - 269 films
2009 - 234 films
2010 - 189 films
2011 - 237 films
2012 - 254 films
2013 - 352 films
2014 - 350 films
2015 - 337 films
2016 - 270 films
2017 - 265 films
2018 - 207 films
2019 - 254 films
2020 - 284 films
2021 - 334 films
2022 - 401 films
2023 - 382 films

In 2023 I didn't break 400 films, like I did in 2022. According to Letterboxd, I reviewed 26 less films and watched 63 less hours of film than in 2022. Note that the number of films I logged above (from my personal records) is different than the number of ‘Films Logged’ on Letterboxd (406). This is owing to the fact that I do not log check-ins for short films, certain documentaries, featurettes, concert films, etc. in my personal records (while I do log those on LB).

Alexander Payne was my Most Watched Director in 2023. This was obviously because of the ride I took on the Payne Train. In February and March of last year, I watched every one of his solo-directed feature films up to that point (only one and a half of which I had seen previously), based on the recommendation of my friend Sean (and then The Holdovers (reviewwas released in October).

Willem Dafoe was my Most Watched Actor in 2023. Films watched (or rewatched) last year featuring him included The Northman (2022) (review), Paris Je T'Aime (2006), Light Sleeper (1992), The Card Counter (2021), Streets Of Fire (1984) (review), Asteroid City (2023), The Lighthouse (2019) (review)To Live And Die In L.A. (1985) (review)eXistenZ (1999) (review), and Poor Things (2023) (review).

I hope that film lovers will use my blog as a database to search for ratings and reviews, and that they find it useful. Don't forget that I occasionally post album reviews and other topics as well. In addition to the search at the top of the blog, there are handy labels on the left-hand side to help you find stuff. I appreciate all the views. Take care and I hope 2024 treats you well!
